Client: Al Emarat Park
Project: Public Utility Glass Installation
Introduction – Art, Clarity, and Resilience in a Public Landmark
The management of Mushrif Central Park (now Umm Al Emarat Park) collaborated with Sun Studio to implement custom-printed glass elements throughout key visitor areas. The objective was to merge artistic design with high-level utility, creating informative or decorative glass features that would withstand the unique demands of a large, high-traffic public park. Our mission centered on delivering crystal-clear visual quality and ensuring the longevity of the design against sunlight, weather exposure, and daily public interaction.
THE CHALLENGE
The park required large-format printed glass elements for informational displays, partitions, or decorative cladding that needed to perform reliably in a demanding outdoor and public environment. The main difficulties included ensuring extreme durability for the printed surface, making it impervious to constant public contact, vandalism, and the intense heat and UV exposure characteristic of the region. Furthermore, the designs needed visual integration to harmonize with the natural and architectural elements of the park, while all installations had to adhere to safety compliance by using certified safety glass for public welfare.
OUR SOLUTION- GRADE GLASS PRINTING
Sun Studio utilized specialized, exterior-grade printing and glass preparation techniques engineered for maximum public utility and environmental resistance. Our approach provided a robust, visually engaging solution:
- UV and Weather Sealing: Printing was applied using high-performance UV inks that offer superior resistance to fading from direct sunlight, followed by specialized sealing to protect against moisture and temperature fluctuations.
- Anti-Scratch Finish: A robust protective layer was integrated over the print, significantly increasing resistance to abrasion and light vandalism common in public spaces.
- Large Format Precision: We handled the production of oversized panels, ensuring seamless installation and clear alignment of detailed graphics across expansive glass surfaces.
THE IMPACT
The custom-printed glass installations successfully added layers of information and visual interest while proving exceptionally durable for public use. The park gained long-term functional beauty, with glass features that withstand harsh environmental conditions while seamlessly integrating art and utility. This high-performance, low-maintenance solution ensures the park’s sophisticated design remains pristine and informative for years to come.
