Project: Printed Aluminum Displays
Introduction – Durable Visual Narratives on Modern Substrates
The Sharjah Al Hisn Museum (Sharjah Fort) engaged Sun Studio to produce custom printed directional and informational signage panels. Given the critical importance of visitor flow and providing clear historical context within the complex, historic structure, the requirement was for panels that offered flawless visual clarity and high durability. Our mission was to ensure that all wayfinding and historical content was presented with maximum legibility and longevity on a robust substrate like aluminum.
THE CHALLENGE
Producing printed displays for Chanel required transcending standard commercial quality to meet the level of precision expected in haute couture. The main difficulties lay in achieving the subtle nuances of the brand’s sophisticated color palette and graphics on the acrylic surface.
We had to guarantee absolute fidelity to specific blacks, whites, and signature colors, ensuring every detail was crisp and flawless. Furthermore, the acrylic panels needed to offer optical clarity and be robust enough to maintain their pristine appearance through multiple campaign installations and handling.
OUR SOLUTION- GRADE GLASS PRINTING
Sun Studio utilized a highly specialized direct-to-substrate printing process, optimized for producing clear, high-contrast graphics on a rigid surface suitable for directional panels. Our approach ensured durability and functionality:
- High-Contrast Legibility: Printing was conducted with precision to ensure absolute clarity of text and symbols (like the padlock or fingerprint icons) against the dark background, guaranteeing readability for all visitors.
- Wear and Abrasion Resistance: The aluminum substrate was finished with a protective layer, making the surface resistant to finger marks, cleaning, and general abrasion common on public signage.
- Complex Content Integration: We expertly handled the integration of multi-lingual text (Arabic and English) alongside map elements and icons onto a single, cohesive panel design.
THE IMPACT
The custom printed signage provided the museum with robust, elegant, and highly functional wayfinding tools. Al Hisn Museum now features clear, durable, and easily legible directional panels that significantly improve visitor experience and navigation. This high-quality signage ensures the historical narratives are efficiently communicated while fully safeguarding the integrity of the protected heritage landmark.
